Free Eye Check Up Camps

To fulfill the dream and meet the aims and objectives of the organization, Sri Sai Eye Hospital, the best eye hospital in Patna, initiated the Outreach Eye Check-up Program in 2008. At its inception, it focused mainly on cataract patient screening with a limited human resource — one optometrist, one camp mobilizer, and one field staff managing all camp-related activities including local networking, fixing venues, publicity, and camp conduction.

Gradually, through learning and experience, we felt the need to deploy more manpower and enlarge the team. In the second phase, the team consisted of one Team Coordinator and three Field Staff. The coordinator became fully responsible for liaising with local community leaders, monitoring publicity, and ensuring smooth implementation of the camp.

As part of our mission to provide affordable and accessible eye care in Patna, Sri Sai Eye Hospital expanded its services to capture patients with refractive errors requiring visual correction through spectacles. However, due to limited skilled manpower and resources, many patients initially went untreated. To overcome this, the outreach camp team was restructured as follows:

Now, Sri Sai Eye Hospital in Patna has incorporated advanced equipment like an Automatic Refractometer and Handheld Slit Lamp in screening camps to ensure comprehensive eye check-ups at the camp site. Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar tests are also conducted by the lab technician. The driver has received specialized training in spectacle dispensing, grinding, and fitting, understanding frame quality and pricing, and applying sales techniques.

Our Community Outreach Team regularly conducts eye check-up campaigns in remote and rural areas of Bihar to bring essential eye care services to those who lack access. Patients identified for cataract surgery in Patna or other surgical interventions are provided free transportation, along with complete surgical and medical care at the hospital. This outreach program by Sri Sai Eye Hospital, a leading ophthalmology center in Patna, has greatly benefited the community by raising awareness about eye health and ensuring vision care for all.
